You must deliver the selected art between 3pm-3:30pm on the day of the show, May 31, 2025
Show date: Saturday May 31, 2025 4-7pm (free & open to the public)
This is an opportunity to exhibit, network with artists, socialize, sell your work directly (no commission), and get invitations to future exhibitions. There will be 27 feet of wall space will be available, a couple of easels, limited table space for sculpture or vendor displays.
Besides making space for artists, this is a fundraiser to support La Raíz Magazine! (We provide free bilingual poetry & art programming for adults, children, and youth. Poets and artists are paid for facilitating workshops and presenting/exhibiting in funded community events.) We thank you for an entry donation of $10
PS: People can also nominate you to win small cash prizes and to be considered for a 9ft wall in a 3-person show. In-person nominations are free the day of the show!

To be nominated for prizes and exhibitions, ask people to send a donation of $5 or more with your name and/or show up to the exhibition to vote for you for FREE in person! 1st prize is $40, 2nd prize is $20 and top nominated artists will be considered for 3-person exhibitions in the La Raíz Magazine gallery, with their own 9ft section. All artists will be considered for opportunities such as future off-site events where we pay stipends for pop-up art displays.

ABOUT
La Raíz Magazine is a literary magazine that publishes visual art and poetry by community members, writers, and artists based in San José, California and Santa Clara County, while also welcoming work from our national and international community. La Raíz Magazine consciously creates space for the publication and presentation of creative work by people who identify as women, girls, and members of the global majority (people of color); with an emphasis on work by people whose heritage is rooted in lands that are now Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, who may identify as: Indigenous, Chicana/o, or from their country of origin. Through our publication and events, we hope to promote inclusion, empathy, and connection.

ENTRY GUIDELINES
Apply by: Wednesday, May 14, 2024 midnight
(apply as soon as possible before it fills!)
Notifications will be sent as batches are reviewed or the week of May 19th
Exhibit agreement will be due by May 26th)
Deliver art between 3pm-3:30pm on the day of the show, May 31, 2025
Show date: Saturday May 31, 2025 4-7pm (free & open to the public)
Artwork must be complete and ready to hang with a wire.
Sizes: 2D artwork sizes 9x12" to 16x20" (Artwork up to 30 x 20" might be accepted, but space is limited.)
3D artwork must weigh less than 25 lbs and be shorter than 14" high, remain balanced on a table.
For best results, send 3 pieces of art.
1) Fill out the form below and upload your files to the link on the form.
2) ART: .jpg files only (name the file with the artwork title.) Family-friendly art please! If you want your art to be considered for the flier, send a clear, well-lit jpg!
3) Fee: Send a donation of $10, or ask someone to send it on your behalf--- with your name noted!
4) Send your form! Look out for an acceptance email.
5) To be nominated for prizes and exhibitions, ask people to send a donation of $5 with your name and/or show up to the exhibition and vote for you for free in person!
1st prize is $40, 2nd prize is $20. Top nominated artists will be considered for upcoming 3-person shows, 9ft per artist, showing for up to 6 months.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL TO ASK IF YOUR ENTRIES WERE RECEIVED. The google form gives confirmation and pCloud shows "100% upload". The Google form also shows confirmation. When in doubt, send again :)
DO NOT EMAIL YOUR JPGS. Unfortunately, emails with attachments will be deleted without response due to lack of time and drive space.
Emailed acceptance notices will be sent to emails provided via the form. Typos and spam filters may interfere with this, so please consider including an alternate communication method such as social media.
